Heroes Casting

David Anders (Alias) is just one of six new actors cast in the next season of Heroes. And yes, I really loved him on Alias. I'm really glad he got cast.

Anders will play the most intriguing part, that of the ancient samurai warrior Takezo Kensei, Hiro Nakamura's (Masi Oka) childhood hero.

Others cast:
Pop star, Eriko Tamura will play a princess.


Barry Shabaka Henley will play Detective Fuller, a New York police officer.



Holt McCallany will play Ricky, the ringleader of a group of Irish thugs.


Lyndsy Fonseca (HBO's Big Love)will play a cheerleader from Sourthern California.


Dianna Agron (Veronica Mars) will also play a cheerleader.

Battlestar Galactica TV Movie :Razor

Oh hell yeah! This preview makes me that much more excited about the SD Comic-Con panel that is in a couple weeks. Here is a preview to Razor the Battlestar Galactica TV movie.


Plot summery from Wikipedia:
According to IGN, "the movie will indeed focus on an untold story about the Battlestar Pegasus, and feature Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes) ... While this story with Cain occurs before she and the Pegasus crew joined up with Galactica, the entire cast of the regular series will appear in the movie, as the Pegasus portion is portrayed via flashbacks"[2].

Ronald D. Moore has stated, "The story will be set on the Battleship Pegasus and will take place in the past, relative to where we are in Season 3. But the events set up in that story will then pay off in Season 4."[3] He added, "One of the story lines everyone had really liked was the Pegasus story and the character of Admiral Cain, so we decided to go with that."[4] Moore has also said, "We'll try to reassemble most of the Pegasus cast."[5]

Clark And Michael

If you guys haven't watched Michael Cera's new show, you are totally missing out. Don't worry though it's not in the traditional TV format and it's readily accessible. Michael Cera along with his best friend Clark Duke star in CBS's original web series in which they also write and produce. It's basically about two friends trying to make in in Hollywood. It's really funny and they update new episodes every Wednesday. When I first heard about this show I was really excited because I love Michael Cera and his character on Arrested Development. The thing about loving a TV character so much is that the actor associated with that character has a lot of pressure on them to a) help create an equally loving character or b) disassociate themselves so they wont be type cast. Thank goodness that this show didn't disappoint. Maybe it's the love I have for the mockumentry format or the awkward random jokes? Either way, check it out. "We were just trying to make each other laugh," Duke said. "And sometimes it does feel like it's just a big in-joke between us." A 10-minute pilot version was shot for Duke's college thesis and eventually found its way to Matt Kaplan, the online content supervisor at CBS Interactive. "Clark and Michael," with its low-tech aesthetic, mockumentary feel and potential to attract Cera's college-aged fan base, immediately appealed to him. Still, the network intentionally kept the "microseries" off its Innertube Web site because it thought placing the show at another location would better appeal to the show's younger demographic.

So without commercial sponsors and focus groups, "Clark and Michael" unfolds in weekly bursts of 7 to 10 minutes long, filled with the awkward silences that Cera likes so much and plenty of absurdist low-key mockery of life on the show-business fringe, including one scene in which Cera, after having a script rejected, cries in a bathtub and refers to a well-known screenwriting guide.

"We didn't originally think of this as being for the Internet," Cera said. "We were thinking more like it being something on Adult Swim," on Cartoon Network. "But it turned out exactly how we wanted it to be."

Besides "Superbad" and "Year One" he will also appear in "Juno," an independent film comedy directed by Jason Reitman and scheduled for release this fall. Although he doubts there will be any more "Clark and Michael" episodes, he's not ruling them out, mostly because he's not sure what he's going to do next.

"I'm very afraid to make decisions," he said, "because I want the people who liked 'Arrested Development' to like whatever I do next. I don't want to let them down. I think too much about every decision I make." And then there's a too-long silence. Kind of uncomfortable. Cera was probably pleased.

1-18-08 Better Quality Trailer

It looks like all the bootleg copies of the trailer for "Cloverfield" or "Untitled 1-18-08" have been taken down, including the one I linked on this blog. Paramount has however put up a better quality trailer up on Apple Trailers. The Bad Robot logo at the beginning of the trailer gets me really excited because it reminds me of LOST. This better not turn out to be a piece of shit movie. The noise though does resemble the monster from lost...and the font for 1-18-08 looks like the font for the numbers.

Portia Is No Longer Unemployed

For some reason reading this snippet of information reminded me of the episode of Arrested Development where Lindsey gets a job offer (hair commercial) so she goes shopping and sleeps through her first day (thus, spending money she doesn't have). God, I miss Arrested Development. Anyway, Portia De Rossi is coming back to our small screens. Unfortunately it's not in anything nearly as good as AD. From Entertainment Weekly:

Portia will be one of many guest stars to appear on the new season of "Nip/Tuck". She will play the mother of an emo teen, "She's witty and confident and she's gay, which is really exciting." says Portia of her character.

I used to LOVE Nip/Tuck but after last season I couldn't bear to waste my time with that trash. Yeah, I turn on you quickly. And since when did middle aged journalists (I'm assuming) start describing teens as emo? Good for Portia though, at least now she can buy Ellen a gift and take pride in paying for it herself. I just had a vision of being a kid and buying my parents gifts that were from "me" but really wondering how they could possibly be from "me" if they paid for it. I was a strange kid. SOURCE

I thought the article was interesting but he kind of strikes me as a person who stretches the truth in order to tell a really good story.

Kristen Bell On The Big Screen In FANBOYS

Cult favorite Kristen Bell wont let her TV show cancellation get her down...thank God. She is making a leap to the big screen as one of the leads in a new movie called FANBOYS. I'm actually excited about this. I'm not sure what her role is but I'm assuming she is playing a "fangirl". Rarely do we get to see females in the roles of fangirls (unless it's about cute boys) because generally speaking I think It's men who get submersed in the geek culture. I'm not sure why that is but the girl/boy geek ratio is really off. I really hope I'm not wrong because if she is playing the annoyed girlfriend I will be disappointed. Kristen Bell has done a great job of picking strong female characters (Veronica Mars), so here is to hoping she portrays us [geek girls] accurately. It also stars Jay Baruchel who I thought was really funny in UNDECLARED.


Plot Summary: In this riotous new road movie from producer Kevin Spacey, a group of friends who are avid Star Wars fans travel west to see the Holly Grail of all sci-fi movies, "Star Wars: Episode I." J.J Abrams' Likes To Play With Our Heads

J.J. Abrams' is seriously going to be the death of me. Not only did he create the most mind boggling show in TV history but now he likes to mess with us while we are at the theater. It's not enough for him confuse us in our homes but now he does it while we are waiting for [insert movie] to play. I recently saw Transformers as most of you know and they played a preview for something that seriously left me saying "what the frak"??!! You can watch a really crappy bootleg version of the trailer below.

In a similar fashion to the LOST fandom, fans of Abrams are flocking to the internet trying to put the pieces together. Yeah, I got suckered into this mess too. As you can see, I couldn't save the pictures from the official website (1-18-08) so I used the ever handy print screen button on my computer. Why even have a website if you can't click on anything! What could this movie be about? Godzilla? War? The monster from Lost?

It's Countdown Time: Comic-Con Edition

Oh my God, you guys! Only 16 more days until my favorite time of the year- San Diego Comic-Con! I'm so excited that I'm not sure what to do with myself. I not only have the privilege of living in one of the most beautiful cities in the United States but also in the city that hosts the largest comic convention. Last year, I got to see some amazing panels (Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Family Guy, Kevin Smith, Snakes on a plane, Grind House, Superman through the ages, etc) but I also waited for and missed one of the biggest panels of the year(Spiderman)(it was my fault, a little something called starvation). For those of you who have never been to Comic-Con don't let the name fool you. Although it's roots still lie in comics (originally the convention primary focused on comic books)over the years it has expanded to feature many aspects of pop culture. There is literally something for anyone who is a dedicated fan of sci-fi, television, movies, horror, anime, fantasy, video games, toys, etc. Last year was also the first year the convention sold out(Saturday) which makes me really nervous. People have taken notice that this event isn't only for "geeks" although I would really like to keep it that way. The convention center is HUGE, I'm not sure what the capacity is but I'm sure it's an insane amount. Geeks have an advantage over non geeks though; we are pros at standing in line. See, we get really excited about things and genuinely love whatever we are fans of with real passion, standing in line for hours is something that we have mastered and expect. I was talking to my boyfriend today and I mentioned that on Thursday night [at the con] they are going to premiere Superman Doomsday
and the first thing out of his mouth was "I don't care what happens I'm camping out in that room ALL day". Good thing I was planning on it anyway because the LOST panel is in that same room earlier in the day.

I love Michael Cera more and more as the days go by. For those of you who watched Arrested Development (if you haven't stop reading this and go buy it at Target) he played the cousin loving teenager; George Michael Bluth. His new movie coming out called 'SuperBad' was written by Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, Freaks and Geeks) and produced by Judd Apatow (40 year old virgin) and looks hilarious. If the people behind this are any indication of what is in store for us, then I'm really excited. Anyway, Michael Cera has some of the best comedic timing I have ever seen. He plays the role of the awkward teenager so perfectly that he makes you believe that maybe he fumbles his way through real life. I doubt that is the case though. Capt. Mal to Join Desperate Houswives

Sci-fi geeks hearts are breaking as we speak. Our beloved Captain Mal from Firefly and Serenity is joining the cast of Desperate Housewives next season. Before anyone busts out with a dagger to stab themselves with or calls him a sellout, think clearly and rationally. yes, Desperate Housewives probably stands for everything that you hate about entertainment but think of poor Nathan Fillion. The poor guy can't catch a break! Mr. Fillion has been trying to find his niche in TV and has been very unsuccessful at keeping any of his jobs. He couldn't have been more perfect for the role of Capt. Mal on Firefly but people and fox weren't smart enough to see how good and funny that show was. His new show Drive lasted for about three episodes before they pulled it off the air. I'm sure the man needs some form of income so he can pay his bills and be a functional member of society. Cut him some slack and support him because we all know how great he is to his ever growing fandom.

The Good,The Bad,and The Ugly-License to Wed

The Good- you get to enjoy John Krasinski's hotness for 90 minutes

The Bad- The movie isn't very funny and it has a lot of WTF moments.

The Ugly- Robin Williams is really ugly, I mean annoying.

Now that a few days have passed and I am out of my John Krasinski rose colored glasses, I can blog about what I thought of License to Wed. I'm not ashamed to say that I love cheesy romantic comedy's aka 'romcoms'. If Mandy Moore is in it and it's a chick flick count me in. I even liked Because I Said So! That is why I was so excited when I heard that my TV boyfriend was filming a romantic comedy with Mandy Moore. In this alternate universe where my guilty pleasures roam free could it possibly get any better? There always has to be a draw back though and they came in the form of Robin Williams and the script. Don't get me wrong, I laughed and had a really fun time watching the movie but it's not enough for me to urge you to see it. The sad thing for me was that I never really figured out whey Ben (JK's character) was so in love with Sadie(MM). I just couldn't buy their never dying love, I also didn't like how irrational she was towards him. I watch these movies so I can laugh and be really girlie about perfect couples that don't really exist, not to watch a grown woman nag at her boyfriend, I do that enough for both of us. I really do think Ben was a saint for sticking through as much garbage as he did. I couldn't help but be reminded of how much Jim loves Pam and how great they are together. Ben and Sadie wished they loved each other half as much as the star crossed lovers on John's TV show.

I have never liked Robin Williams or his style of comedy so I was nervous about him playing the unconventional pastor on LTW. To his credit he wasn't as over the top as he usually is but he wasn't funny either. His character was just so creepy and cringe inducing that I thanked my lucky stars that there was two other leads in the movie.
Onto the good? Most of the laughs came from John Krasinski's perfect comedic timing and the rest of The Office crew that made cameo appearances. Seriously, I was laughing so loud that I thought that any of the other 20 people in the theater were going to throw trash at me (yeah it was pretty empty) I also have a tendency to laugh really loud anyway so my laughter might not be a fair assessment to the comedy.
The scene stealer by far was Brian Baumgardner aka Kevin from The Office. Every scene that he was in was hilarious and perfect. There was also other short cameos from Mindy Kaling and Angela Kinsey; other than making me laugh these appearances really made me want to watch new episodes of The Office. There was also some really funny moments with the hideous robot babies that I'm sure everyone has seen in a promo or two. If you asked me whether you should spend ten bucks of your hard earned money to see LTW or wait for rental I would say- It depends. If you are a full fledged Hussy and want to see John Krasinski on a movie screen in all of his lanky glory, then pay 10 bucks and enjoy yourself. If you are selective about what movies you will shell out money for, then wait for rental. That was a little harsh but true. I don't think this will tarnish John's career or reputation at all. If anything this movie shows how funny he can be with the material that he is given. I also think it helps that his next movie coming out stars George Clooney and not Tom Green or any other has- been comedian. Let's face it no one stood a chance against the monster that is Transformers.

ABC May Still Make a Play for Football Wives
ABC Studios has extended its options on the actors associated with Football Wives, the BBC-adapted sudser pilot that was not picked up at the May upfronts, suggesting the network may tackle the project after all. One of the Alphabet's highest-profile pilots this development season, Football Wives stars Gabrielle Union, Lucy Lawless, Kiele Sanchez (sigh, Nikki...), Ving Rhames and James Van Der Beek. Should ABC ultimately "pass," sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that several other networks, including NBC and Fox, have expressed an interest in it.

Did I Say Books?

I mentioned that I would post about various things that could keep you busy during this long summer hiatus. One of the things I mentioned was books. Yeah. School keeps me busy enough that I haven't had time to read. I started reading this book at the beginning of summer break and I'm half way through.

Everything Bad Is Good For You

For once I feel like someone is on my side. I hate when people get on their pedestals and preach about how pop culture is making us dumb. In my opinion, TV is at the peak of it's game. With shows like LOST, Battlestar Galactica, and The Office TV is no longer JUST mindless entertainment. It helps develop our critical thinking skills and doesn't force feed us what THEY think WE should think is funny. Have you ever noticed how The Office doesn't have laugh tracks? As an audience we are smart enough to make the decision to laugh or stay silent. The Office creators recognize that. Have you ever stayed up at night trying to figure out what EXACTLY is going on in the world of LOST? The creators of LOST have constructed a show that is extremely complicated and interlinked;the only way to make sense of anything is if you dig deep inside your brain and use your organizational skills. That my friends, is harder than it sounds. It's kind of like playing a game of memory for years at a time. Back to discussing the book.......

In no way is Johnson trying to tell us that playing video games or watching TV is better than good old fashioned reading, but he tries to tell us what benefits we may get out of engaging in activities that were once considered mind numbing . Like I said, I haven't read the whole thing so I might come back and redact this post, but I get the overall feeling that I wont. For now though give it a shot. You might be entertained. Thanks for letting me rant.
