I Would Like TO I/M With John Krasinski

Glamour Magazine recently Im-ed with my (and everyone else's) TV boyfriend John Krasinski

CLAIM TO FAME
The 27-year-old actor plays everyman Jim on The Office and stars in July’s License to Wed. We IM-ed him to see what he looks for in a woman.

5:15:53 P.M.
GLAMOUR: I’m never on IM, so don’t expect funny faces.

5:16:23 P.M.
JOHN: Darn, I love emoticons!

5:16:26 P.M.
JOHN: :-)

5:16:34 P.M.
GLAMOUR: ;-)

5:17:01 P.M.
GLAMOUR: Would you ever date a normal girl like Pam? A girl in a cardigan?

5:17:45 P.M.
JOHN: Yes, please! It’s not about celebrity or not. It’s all about, do you have that *girl in a cardigan* in you. You gotta have that.

5:18:24 P.M.
GLAMOUR: Jim is every girl’s perfect guy. Do you feel like there is pressure to be him? Or are you perfect?

5:18:57 P.M.
JOHN: Oh boy, you set me up!

5:19:33 P.M.
JOHN: But I would say I have a mellow way about me and a spontaneity that is similar to Jim’s.

5:24:26 P.M.
GLAMOUR: You were named one of People magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive. Is that a *velvet* jacket in the photo?

5:25:06 P.M.
JOHN: My God! You have eagle eyes!

T-Bag Scares Me

You know how there are actors that no matter what you just link them to their TV counterparts? Robert Knepper aka T-bag from Prison Break kind of does that for me. Knepper plays such a convincing spine chilling bad guy that it is hard for me to separate reality from fantasy. OK, so maybe it's not THAT bad, but I once saw a picture of him in a magazine and the article was about his family and life and all I could see was a cold blooded killer. He's that good. I read an online article today that talked about how T-bag was going to get meaner! I don't know if i can handle that!

Article:

T-Bag has played a major part in season one’s main plot and has stirred in a different direction in season as a separate subplot. So far, his crimes include battery, assault, attempted murder, murder, rape, and kidnapping. However, according to Knepper, none of these acts can compare to what’s in store for his character in season three. Driven by his disappointment at failing to have the family he so desired, T-Bag is about to become even meaner.

“I call the writers and asked, ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’ They said, ‘You thought you saw Teddy being a madman before, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet’,” the Prison Break actor said.

Because This Made Me Laugh: Zac Ephron Edition

You don't have to lie to kick it! Either Zac Ephron is gay and is using these girls as his beards or ....... yeah, I couldn't come up with anything else. Here he is smooching with his Hairspray co-star Nikki Blonsky at Canadian TV's Much Music promoting his new movie. After his little 'makeout' with his co-star he said “I’m in so much trouble" referring to his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.

I'm too old for this crap, but it's entertaining.

Kelly Kapoor Strikes Back!

A tad spoilerish for those who are squeamish or who haven't watched the season finale. Yeah, I really love Mindy Kaling.

ARTICLE: THE BOSTON HAROLD
Get ready for the revenge of the ditz.

Mindy Kaling, lovable, overly enthusiastic Kelly on NBC’s “The Office” (Thursday at 9 p.m. on WHDH, Ch. 7), revealed what viewers can expect when the series returns for a fourth season in the fall.

As viewers recall, in the final moment of the May season finale, Ryan (Newton native B.J. Novak) unceremoniously dumped Kelly after getting a big promotion.

“I think that Ryan is in for it,” Kaling said recently. “I don’t think Kelly would even know where the phrase ‘hell hath no fury’ is from or even know what that means, but we’re going to see that literally enacted upon Ryan, which I think is going to be funny to see. My character is kind of such a sweet ditz, so to see her be scorned and turned into Medea will be really fun and a challenge as an actor.”

Kaling, who is in town visiting her family in Cambridge, is a writer on the series. Even though her contract included a performer clause, she initially wasn’t sure she would be on the series, let alone part of an ongoing story line.

“B.J. is a writer and we would spend 14 hours a day writing, and then I think (executive producer) Greg Daniels noticed our dynamic and thought it was funny because we squabble a lot as writers. And then I think that it was because Ryan was almost too straight as a character. He didn’t have a lot of adversity in the office. So to have this character be completely smitten with him made his character a little more interesting.”

The Dartmouth grad believes Ryan and Kelly bring a dose of reality to the series. “Everybody loves seeing Jim and Pam and identifies with them and unrequited love. But I think more people than would want to admit are actually like Kelly and Ryan, where you’re in love with somebody but you don’t realize that you’re being stalkerish or unwelcome,” she said. “We always say we’re like the real couple, the most realistic couple on the show, and that Jim and Pam are like this wonderful beautiful fantasy.”

While on vacation here, Kaling was busy writing the sixth episode of the season.

“We get to see a character who we think is no longer going to be on the show any more,” she said cryptically. “Someone who we think is long gone. They make an appearance so I was excited about the script.”

Last season, her parents played Kelly’s parents in the episode “Diwali,” which she wrote.

“My parents loved it so much,” she said. “Every time I’ve come home since then, they’ve been like, ‘When are Kelly’s parents going to make an appearance again?’ It was very funny for them to play these really supertraditional Indian people. It was as much of an exaggeration for them as Kelly is for me.”

Portia Is No Longer Unemployed

For some reason reading this snippet of information reminded me of the episode of Arrested Development where Lindsey gets a job offer (hair commercial) so she goes shopping and sleeps through her first day (thus, spending money she doesn't have). God, I miss Arrested Development. Anyway, Portia De Rossi is coming back to our small screens. Unfortunately it's not in anything nearly as good as AD. From Entertainment Weekly:

Portia will be one of many guest stars to appear on the new season of "Nip/Tuck". She will play the mother of an emo teen, "She's witty and confident and she's gay, which is really exciting." says Portia of her character.

I used to LOVE Nip/Tuck but after last season I couldn't bear to waste my time with that trash. Yeah, I turn on you quickly. And since when did middle aged journalists (I'm assuming) start describing teens as emo? Good for Portia though, at least now she can buy Ellen a gift and take pride in paying for it herself. I just had a vision of being a kid and buying my parents gifts that were from "me" but really wondering how they could possibly be from "me" if they paid for it. I was a strange kid. SOURCE

Yet Another Shia Post

Are you guys getting sick of Shia yet? I'm not. Here are some scans from this months Vanity Fair.
Interesting facts about Shia:
* He grew up in Echo Park (yes you read that right)
* His father was a clown (literally) and a drug trafficker
* His mom was a Ballerina and his Gpa escaped Nazis in Poland
* He [shia] along with his father would dress up like clowns and sell hot dogs on the streets
* At age 10 he was doing stand up and calling agents himself
* He threatened a neighbor with a knife and got arrested
* He broke up with his first real love after dating for 3 years (he couldn't devote time)

I thought the article was interesting but he kind of strikes me as a person who stretches the truth in order to tell a really good story.

Kristen Bell On The Big Screen In FANBOYS

Cult favorite Kristen Bell wont let her TV show cancellation get her down...thank God. She is making a leap to the big screen as one of the leads in a new movie called FANBOYS. I'm actually excited about this. I'm not sure what her role is but I'm assuming she is playing a "fangirl". Rarely do we get to see females in the roles of fangirls (unless it's about cute boys) because generally speaking I think It's men who get submersed in the geek culture. I'm not sure why that is but the girl/boy geek ratio is really off. I really hope I'm not wrong because if she is playing the annoyed girlfriend I will be disappointed. Kristen Bell has done a great job of picking strong female characters (Veronica Mars), so here is to hoping she portrays us [geek girls] accurately. It also stars Jay Baruchel who I thought was really funny in UNDECLARED.

Plot Summary: In this riotous new road movie from producer Kevin Spacey, a group of friends who are avid Star Wars fans travel west to see the Holly Grail of all sci-fi movies, "Star Wars: Episode I." The year is 1999 and for these death star dorks, the Star Wars films are more than just movies; they are a way of life. So, after one of the group takes sick it is nothing short of a moral imperative that the friends break into George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch to watch the seminal sci-fi picture together before its release. Enlisting the help of an estranged friend, who has traded in his Darth Vader mask for a proper day job, the adventure lays way to some extremely funny situations, including an outrageous brawl with some hard-core Trekkies.

J.J Abrams' Likes To Play With Our Heads

J.J. Abrams' is seriously going to be the death of me. Not only did he create the most mind boggling show in TV history but now he likes to mess with us while we are at the theater. It's not enough for him confuse us in our homes but now he does it while we are waiting for [insert movie] to play. I recently saw Transformers as most of you know and they played a preview for something that seriously left me saying "what the frak"??!! You can watch a really crappy bootleg version of the trailer below.

In a similar fashion to the LOST fandom, fans of Abrams are flocking to the internet trying to put the pieces together. Yeah, I got suckered into this mess too. As you can see, I couldn't save the pictures from the official website (1-18-08) so I used the ever handy print screen button on my computer. Why even have a website if you can't click on anything! What could this movie be about? Godzilla? War? The monster from Lost?

It's Countdown Time: Comic-Con Edition

Oh my God, you guys! Only 16 more days until my favorite time of the year- San Diego Comic-Con! I'm so excited that I'm not sure what to do with myself. I not only have the privilege of living in one of the most beautiful cities in the United States but also in the city that hosts the largest comic convention. Last year, I got to see some amazing panels (Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Family Guy, Kevin Smith, Snakes on a plane, Grind House, Superman through the ages, etc) but I also waited for and missed one of the biggest panels of the year(Spiderman)(it was my fault, a little something called starvation). For those of you who have never been to Comic-Con don't let the name fool you. Although it's roots still lie in comics (originally the convention primary focused on comic books)over the years it has expanded to feature many aspects of pop culture. There is literally something for anyone who is a dedicated fan of sci-fi, television, movies, horror, anime, fantasy, video games, toys, etc. Last year was also the first year the convention sold out(Saturday) which makes me really nervous. People have taken notice that this event isn't only for "geeks" although I would really like to keep it that way. The convention center is HUGE, I'm not sure what the capacity is but I'm sure it's an insane amount. Geeks have an advantage over non geeks though; we are pros at standing in line. See, we get really excited about things and genuinely love whatever we are fans of with real passion, standing in line for hours is something that we have mastered and expect. I was talking to my boyfriend today and I mentioned that on Thursday night [at the con] they are going to premiere Superman Doomsday
and the first thing out of his mouth was "I don't care what happens I'm camping out in that room ALL day". Good thing I was planning on it anyway because the LOST panel is in that same room earlier in the day.

SuperBad Trailer

I'm Excited For SuperBad

Release Date: August 17th

I love Michael Cera more and more as the days go by. For those of you who watched Arrested Development (if you haven't stop reading this and go buy it at Target) he played the cousin loving teenager; George Michael Bluth. His new movie coming out called 'SuperBad' was written by Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, Freaks and Geeks) and produced by Judd Apatow (40 year old virgin) and looks hilarious. If the people behind this are any indication of what is in store for us, then I'm really excited. Anyway, Michael Cera has some of the best comedic timing I have ever seen. He plays the role of the awkward teenager so perfectly that he makes you believe that maybe he fumbles his way through real life. I doubt that is the case though. Here is a summery of SuperBad via AOL:

'Superbad,' a coming-of-age cautionary tale about two socially inept teenage boys about to graduate high school. Theirs is a ridiculously dependent friendship -- but now they've gotten into different colleges and are forced to contemplate life apart. Evan (Michael Cera) is sweet, smart, and generally terrified. Seth (Jonah Hill) is foul-mouthed, volatile, and all-consumed with the topic of human sexuality. This is the story of their misguided attempts to reverse a lifelong losing streak with the ladies in one panic-driven night... that awful, humiliating night you cherish for the rest of your life.

Check out this funny picture I found of Michael Cera online (yeah, he's the kid in the background)
It gets me every time.

Dan Manu Update

I recently posted about my love for podcaster Daniel Manu. For those who are interested in an update he recently blogged about Fantastic Four, Transformers, and other fun things. Click to read.
I still haven't listened to the TV Guide podcast since he left.
